NEW DROP OFF DATES! THIRD SATURDAY of the MONTH - SEPTEMBER 19 and OCTOBER 17
Schickler Elementary School is our current host for all our drop off recycling events. This Lapeer Community School location has allowed us to get back in business of recycling!
In addition, the Lapeer High School Environmental Club works alongside us each event and collects the plastic film then given to Meijer and NexTrex!
While Dart is still a valued partner, until an appropriate location providing storage can be secured, we are temporarily unable to accept foam.
When we are back in the foam collection business...Dart Containers accepts recyclable foam collected by us each Saturday. Their delivery service picks up the numerous large bags once a month. The foam is reprocessed for use in other plastic products such as picture frames and crown molding.
Meijer in Lapeer is a major partner in our plastic film recycling efforts. Once a month, staff at the Lapeer Meijer accept, on average, 50 large bags of plastic film. Meijer then transports those bags of film to their distribution center that combines all collections from other stores and prepares the recycling for NexTrex pickup.
Our plastic film collections ultimately end up at NexTrex. Using our collected plastic film, they manufacture benches, decking, and other building materials.
Lapeer County Drop Off Recycling is part of the NexTrex Recycling Challenge and receives a bench made from recycled plastic film once a year after reaching 1,000 pounds collected and reported.
